What is a secured credit card?
A secured credit card requires a cash collateral deposit that becomes the credit line for that account. For example, if you put $250 in to that account, you can charge up to $250. If and when a cardholder does not make their regular payments on a secured credit card, the card issuer can choose to use the funds held in the security deposit to cover the defaulted amounts. When this may occur and how the funds in the security deposit savings account are used can vary between cards and card issuers. Great news is this will help your credit score if you use it wisely, keeping under the 30% ratio! They do report to all 3 credit bureaus so be sure to make your payments on time and keep under the 30% ratio!
If you have little to no credit a regular unsecured credit card can be hard to approved for. Credit builder card is a great secured credit card with no credit requirements except you cannot be in an active bankruptcy with the courts and a low minimum deposit.
Self Lender Loan Builder
Self Lender is a loan company that reports to all 3 credit bureaus. There are no hard credit inquiries. You choose the amount of money each month that you want to deposit into an account. You will deposit as little as $25.00 each month for 12 - 24 months. Each month if you make your payment on time, Self Lender will report to all 3 credit bureaus that you are making your loan payment on time. Because they do report to all 3 credit bureaus, be sure to make your payment on time, or contact them to make arrangements. At the end of your "loan terms" you will receive your loan money back. There is a small percentage that they take and the website will tell you all the information that you need to know.
